The Swimming Gardener
Steve, being 'that sort of chap', naturally rubs shoulders with many of the rich and famous... here are a few who have chosen to support him!
Joanna Lumley
"Good luck Steve - swim like a shark!"
Keri-Anne Payne
"Well done! I hope it all goes well!! Good luck"
Sally Gunnell - Olympic 400m GOLD
"Good luck Steve! Swimming for 15 miles along the Sussex coast is a big challenge and my thoughts will be with you every stroke of the way! As a Patron of Chestnut Tree House, I am very grateful to you for supporting the hospice in this unique way and for helping us raise much-needed funds and awareness of the vital work Chestnut Tree House does providing care for children with life-limiting illnesses and their families."
Desmond Lynam OBE
"Very best of luck with your swim – it’s for a great cause."
Richard Digance (Folk Singer and comedian)
"As a family friend I'd like to wish you good luck with your swim. Your mission is nothing compared to my own swim accross the Atlantic from Barbados to Portugal in just two days with a sack of potatoes on my back, but hey you have to start somewhere. While you swim the Arun could you look out for a fishing float with a red tip I lost in 1983."
Mark Foster - 5 time Olympic swimmer and star of Strictly Come Dancing
"Good luck with your 15 mile swim Steve! As a sprinter, my event only lasted 21 seconds, so I know what a huge challenge this is and it’s for such a fantastic cause. All the very best!"
Neil 'Dr Fox' - Pop Idol, and DJ
"A couple of months ago I opened our front door and was shocked at what I saw....there was Steve White standing proudly in a one piece rubber suit, red rubber hat and a garden fork in his hand. My instant thought was...oh my goodness it must be fetish week on Kingston Gorse and shut the door rather quickly. Steve knocked again and insisted that he was standing there like that because he had transformed into a new super-charity-hero....The Swimming Gardener! After explaining to him that he should be careful walking around in such a state, he told me about his crazy idea to swim from Littlehampton to Worthing Pier...and back! I did point out that it maybe easier to do it in a cab, but he seemed determined! And for that I not only admire him but whole-heartedly support his fantastic challenge.
If you are reading this then you already know what he is trying to do and why he needs to raise such a huge sum of money, so please be as generous as possible and help Steve achieve the goal of £22k....and maybe much more! Hopefully the next time he comes round to our house to do some work in the garden he can be dressed normally!"
Alan Minter - former WBA & WBO Middleweight Champion
"Best of luck Steve on the swim, these are two great causes and I wish you well."
Derek Bell - M.B.E. 5 times Le Mans winner 75, 81,82,86 and 87 - a great English gentleman.
"Steve Best of luck with your swim."
